Here
are three personal stories of individuals who
experienced lack of hospice care in south east
Lincolnshire & the quality of hospice care once
provided, in Lincoln & Peterborough. The distance
however, to travel from Skegness and Boston added to the
distress of patient & family alike for Sandy and
Alison.
BOSTON
'I
write to offer my support for hospice beds in Boston
after reading your article in the local press. I am a
single mum with a young family living in Boston. I was
diagnosed with cancer several months ago. I had
chemotherapy at Pilgrim hospital & some radiotherapy
at Lincoln hospital.
At
first I was able to drive & found it not too
difficult to travel for treatment, but as time has
progressed, I was no longer
able to drive & sometimes find it difficult to look
after myself: relatives help with the children.

SKEGNESS
(Sandi Adams) (June 2008)
I
would like to share my reasons for supporting the
Butterfly Hospice Trust. Up until 18 months ago I was a

MARSH Nr Fosdyke
"When
my wife was diagnosed with Cancer services provided by
the NHS swung into action, & great efforts were made
to bring about a successful outcome. However, after a
period of some twelve months it was recognised that my
wife's condition was beyond further treatment & that
her life expectation was probably no more than six
months.
Faced
with such a dreadful prognosis, what my wife (and I)
most needed was support, advice & services that
would enable her to live as near normal existence as
possible during her remaining months. Regrettably,
largely due to the lack of a local Hospice, the real
situation was far from what we had hoped for.
