Our area extends into the council areas of East Lindsey, most of South Holland and into the borders of South Kesteven, as well as covering the whole of the area administered by Boston Borough Council.  We are working with local volunteer groups and businesses in Skegness, Spalding, Coningsby and village communities near Boston as well as Boston town.

In 2004 the population of south east Lincolnshire was in the region of 270,000 with an expected need to support 4,500 patients with cancer  & non-cancer palliative care needs.  An independent survey commissioned by the then Primary Care Trust & Trent Strategic Health Authority determined a need for a minimum of 25 hospice beds in this area.

Following a recent assessment (09) by NHS Lincolnshire NHS Lincolnshire is committed to providing a further 22 community in-patient beds for people at the end of life in localities across Lincolnshire in addition to those already provided in Lincoln, Grimsby etc.  Of these 6 will be provided in the Boston Practise Based Commissioning Area.  This service will be available to people registered with a NHS Lincolnshire GP Practise.  (Feb/10)
